The National Police Act, 2001 (Arabic: قانون الشرطة الوطنية لعام ٢٠٠١ qānūn ash-shurṭah al-waṭanīyah li-ʿām 2001) is the main constituting instrument for civilian law enforcement in the Arab Union, passed by the Arab Congress on 1 March 2001. The Act formally abolished the previously distinct legal personalities of the country's law enforcement agencies, creating a new, uniformly structured police apparatus, with all existing units brought under its umbrella, excluding the Military Police and border security. The Act also reformed the Ministry of Interior, which was transformed from a series of separate, jurisdiction-specific ministerial bodies into a single, centralised ministry under the federal Council of Ministers.
