Piedmont–Sardinia, officially the Kingdom of Piedmont–Sardinia, is a country in Southern Europe. Its mainland portion, home to about 80% of the total population of 7.66 million, borders France to the west, Switzerland to the north, Italy to the east and the Mediterranean Sea to the south; the remaining 20% inhabit the island of Sardinia, located south of the French island of Corsica in the Mediterranean. Its capital and largest city is Genoa.
