Jump to navigationJump to searchThe Thirteen Islands (Basque: Hamahiru Uharteak; Killarne: Inns Treddæg) is one of the 30 estates (local government areas) of the Duchy of Biscay, encompassing the duchy's 13 uninhabited islands; the name is also an informal collective term for the 13 islands. While they have no permanent population, there is a relatively developed tourism economy with some seasonal businesses based one one or more of the islands. As such, like all other estates, the Thirteen Islands has its own elected municipal council, namely the Thirteen Islands Estate Council based out of Portua.
