Jump to navigationJump to searchAl-Baathiya International Airport (Arabic: مطار البعثية الدولي maṭār al-ba‘athiyah ad-duwalī; IATA: BGW, ICAO: ORBI), formerly and colloquially known as Baghdad International Airport (مطار بغداد الدولي maṭār baghdād ad-duwalī), is the older of two international airports serving Baghdad, the capital city of Iraq and second-most populous city in the Arab Union, alongside Soleimani International Airport. Originally opened in 1960, in 1975 the airport was renamed after the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, which came to power in 1970 and has governed the Arab Union ever since.
