The Algerian National Police (Arabic: الشرطة الوطنية الجزائرية ash-shurṭah al-waṭanīyah al-jazā’irīyah) is the primary civilian law enforcement agency of the Algerian Arab Republic, one of the 20 republics of the Arab Union. Responsible for policing at the republican and municipal (local) level, the Algerian National Police is led by a Director-General who answers to Algeria's Minister of Interior.
