Attorney General of Alaska

The Attorney General of Alaska is a senior member of the Alaska Executive Council, the provincial government of the Canadian province of Alaska. The Attorney General, appointed by the Premier of Alaska, chairs the Ministry of Justice of Alaska, and is assisted by the Solicitor General and Crown Prosecutor. In addition to overseeing the administration of justice at the provincial level, the Attorney General supervises the Alaska Provincial Rangers, Alaska's provincial police, via the Alaska Provincial Police and Crime Commissioner, who is appointed by the Attorney General, and to whom the Chief Constable of the Alaska Provincial Rangers reports via the Police and Crime Commissioner. The Solicitor General, in addition to attending to legal proceedings on behalf of the Attorney General, is also primarily responsible for supervising the Alaska Sheriff's Department and the Alaska Correctional Service.
