The Burrard Line is one of five lines of the Lower Mainland's SkyTrain system of rapid transit. Its terminus stations are Waterfront Station in Downtown Vancouver, where passengers can connect to three other SkyTrain lines and over 20 bus routes, and Horseshoe Bay Station, located at the Georgia Ferries terminal at Horseshoe Bay, Capilano County, where passengers can catch ferries to Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and other islands of the Georgia Strait.

From an outbound Burrard Line train's beginning at Waterfront Station until Hastings–Sunrise Station, the Burrard Line intakes the form of a subway, running under Hastings Street. It then rises from underground to an overhead position, where it crosses over a bridge just west of and parallel to the Iron Workers' Memorial Bridge, to Lynnmour, Capilano County, whence it continues westbound in an overhead (SkyTrain proper) form mostly following Marine Drive through North Vancouver and West Vancouver, Capilano County. After passing Sandy Cove, also in Capilano County, the Burrard Line takes on a ground-level (yet still grade-separated where necessary) form until it reaches its terminus at Horseshoe Bay.
