Irbid (Arabic: إربد irbid; Greek: Άρβηλα arbela) is the second-most populous city in the Jordanian Arab Republic, home to an estimated population of 1.33 million in December 2020 and a metropolitan population estimated at 2.24 million. Irbid is about 55 kilometres north of Amman, the capital and most populous city of Jordan. Irbid International Airport is located in the city of Huwwarah, a city of the Irbid Metropolitan Area about 7 kilometres from Irbid city centre.
