Zahlé International Airport
Zahlé International Airport (Arabic: مطار زحلة الدولي maṭār zaḥlah ad-duwalĩ; IATA: ZHL; ICAO: OZHL) is an international airport serving the Lebanese city and municipality of Zahlé and the surrounding region. Zahlé International Airport is located on the former site of the decommissioned Saadnayel Nuclear Power Station. Construction on the airport began in late 2016, and it was officially opened on 1 March 2019. Prior to its opening, Beirut International Airport was the only international airport in Lebanon.
Arabian Airlines, the Arab Union's flag carrier and largest airline, operates daily medium-distance international flights out of Zahlé International Airport, including to Ankara, Turkey and Shiraz, Iran. Most flights operating out of the airport, however, are domestic flights to Beirut or other republics of the Arab Union, many of which are connections to long-distance international flights out of Beirut International Airport or Damascus International Airport. Zahlé International Airport has a single 3305 m runway of orientation 5/23. Like all other international airports in the Arab Union, Zahlé International Airport is owned and operated by the National Aviation Authority under the federal government's Ministry of Transportation.
