All-Union Express

Jump to navigationJump to searchThe All-Union Express (Arabic: سريع عموم الاتّحاد sarī‘ ‘umūm al-ittiḥād) is a network of high-speed intercity passenger rail connecting all major cities in the Arab Union. Comprised of eleven electric-powered lines, the trains have a cruising speed of nearly 300 km/h. The first line was opened in 1998, connecting Damascus and Cairo via Nasser City, Jerusalem and Port Said. The All-Union Express is owned and operated by Union Rail, a state-owned enterprise managed by the Ministry of Transportation.
