Nasser City District Court
The Nasser City District Court (Arabic: محكمة منطقة مدينة الناصر maḥkamat minṭaqat madīnat an-nāṣir) is the trial court of Nasser City, the federal capital of the Arab Union. It is located on Tishreen Square in the Nasser City borough of Ibrahimia. All civil and criminal cases in Nasser City are first tried in the Nasser City District Court, with the exception of cases coming under federal jurisdiction. Verdicts issued by the Nasser City District Court can be appealed in the Nasser City Court of Appeals, the appellate court and de facto superior court of the capital city.
The Nasser City District Court consists of 16 separate courthouses, one for each of the capital's 15 boroughs and the Nasser City Central Court (the administrative centre of the Nasser City District Court). The district court is administered by a senior justice who supervises 33 puisne justices (two assigned to each borough courthouse and three working directly under the senior justice in the Central Court). Routine trials are typically held in the courthouse of the borough concerned, while the Central Court has discretion to directly try cases it deems of greater importance; all cases which affect two or more boroughs or the capital city as a whole are also directly tried in the Central Court.
