Military Committee of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Canada

The Military Committee of the Politburo (French: Comité militaire du Politbureau) is a seven-member committee of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Canada. It is responsible for supervising the Canadian Armed Forces and People's Militia on behalf of the Politburo, and consists of four civilian and three military members, all members of the Communist Party and its Central Committee. Its members are appointed by the General Secretary of the Central Committee, and it is chaired by the highest-ranking communist member of the Canadian Forces, since 18 January 2017 Jean-Claude Cabot, who since the same date has also served as the highest-ranking Canadian Forces member overall as Chief of the Defence Staff (chairperson of the Armed Forces Council, the general staff of the Canadian Forces).
