A Canadian Forces Base (CFB; French: Base des Forces canadiennes, BFC) is the official designation of any military base, at home or abroad, used by active duty and/or reservist/militia personnel of one or more of the four service branches of the Canadian Forces. No distinguishing feature exists between designations of army or naval bases, airbases, or mixed-use bases. As such CFB Esquimalt, the second-largest base of the Canadian Navy, virtually unused by the other three service branches of the Canadian Forces, shares the same initial designation as CFB Suffield, the largest base of the Canadian Forces, shared by both the Canadian Army and Aerospace Forces.
